Every 40 seconds in the United States, a child goes missing this amounts to 21, 2000 each day. The Safe Kid program has been developed and implemented by Sheriff Clark Millsap because of this unthinkable tragedy. This program educates parents and guardians to become more involved in their children's activities by giving the parent the necessary information and guidance to achieve this goal. It also provides detailed information for parents for keeping their children safe from Internet predators and identity thieves.
Included in this program is the child's identification card. This card contains a color photograph, thumbprint, physical description, important medical information and emergency contact information of their child and is kept by the parent on their person. This card becomes an invaluable tool for law enforcement should the child be abducted or become missing, saving precious minutes to initiate the Amber Alert System.
This program has been expanded to include at risk adults and anyone at any age with handicaps that are unable to care for themselves. No one is ever turned away, regardless of age.
Sheriff Millsap is committed in keeping this program free for anyone. In this year alone, over one thousand identification cards have been issued.
